Nandy
Faustina Charles Mfinanga, known professionally as Nandy, is a Tanzanian singer, songwriter and actress. She performs primarily in Bongo Flava and has also incorporated R&B, Afro-pop, dancehall and other contemporary African influences into her music. She was born and raised in Moshi, Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania.
Nandy rose to prominence after finishing as the first runner-up in the inaugural season of the pan-African singing competition Tecno Own the Stage in 2016. She subsequently became associated with Tanzania House of Talent (THT), where she worked with producer Ema The Boy and released her breakthrough single "Nagusagusa".
Her breakthrough was followed by the singles "One Day", "Wasikudanganye", "Kivuruge" and "Ninogeshe", as well as appearances on Coke Studio Africa. In 2017, she won the Best Female Artist, East Africa category at the All Africa Music Awards.
Nandy released her debut studio album, The African Princess, in 2018. She subsequently released the EPs Wanibariki, Taste and Maturity. In 2023, she founded the record label The African Princess, initially signing singer Yammi.
In 2026, Nandy marked ten years in the music industry. The fifth season of her Nandy Festival was staged as a nationwide touring event, and she announced her second studio album, 911.
